seger
On this day in 1978, Bob Seger released his tenth studio album titled “Stranger in Town.” Recorded at Criteria Sound Studio (Miami), Shoals Sound Studio (Alabama), Cherokee Studios (Los Angeles), and Sound Suite Studios (Detroit) and produced by Seger and Punch Andrews, “Stranger in Town” was Seger’s second release with “The Silver Bullet Band.” However, some of the tracks were also recorded with the famed Muscle Shoals rhythm section.
After the huge success of its predecessor, “Night Moves,” “Stranger In Town” would certify Seger as a worldwide mega-star, touring the world to sold-out shows and littering the Billboard album and singles charts. The album also featured special, limited-edition vinyl releases, including a picture disc and a silver vinyl album.
“Stranger In Town” would climb to #4 on the Billboard album chart and his first to crack the UK chart, reaching #31. Four songs would chart on the Hot 100 singles chart including “Still The Same” (#4), “Hollywood Nights,” (#12), “We’ve Got Tonight,” (#13) and “Old Time Rock-and-Roll” (#28). As did “Night Moves,” “Stranger In Town” has gone on to sell over six million copies worldwide.
